Anterior hip replacement?

I have been waiting for a hip replacement for some time now & due to severely worsening pain & disability over the past few months am having to look at having it done privately.

The orthpedic surgeon I have seen to date only does posterior surgery- as does another I have been recommended.

I was really hoping to have anterior surgery due to easier recovery time- but am now wondering, is this overrated? Is there a reason why the two most recommended surgeons I have found don’t do it?

I don’t know what method the NHS would use- but both of these 2 surgeons practice at the NHS hospital where I have been seen in the past.

I'm so sorry, that pain is debilitating. It’s a frustrating choice. My understanding is anterior is just different—not always "better." Some of the best surgeons prefer posterior because it's what they've mastered and it gives them great access for complex cases. The long-term outcome is what counts. I've researched a lot of private options, feel free to inbox me if you want to chat about clinics/costs.

That’s really kind, thank you.
