Question about haemangiomas (strawberry birthmarks)

Hi everyone,

My dd (14m) has a haemangioma, it came when she was 2 weeks old and now it is quite big. I've been told by various people that nothing can be done about it and it will disappear in a few years, which I accept.

However, it is on her head (where hair should be) so my question is will the hair grow there once it has disappeared or is she going to have a bald spot???

Also, how and when do they disappear? Any advice, experience would be helpful
Thanks

can't answer about the hair bit as my dds was on her side. The hv said it would disappear completely by the time she was 5. In fact it took longer than that (I think about 8 or 9) and kids being kids, she did get questions about it. However, she is now 11 and there is no sign of it at all. They just fade really, get a bit paler and start going skin coloured round the edges and, as time goes on, disappear.

My DD has 2, one on her bottom and one on her back. She is now 5 and they have faded but I think it will be a few more years until they fade completely.

Sorry I can't help with your question about hair pinkpeanut.

dd2 (15 months) has 2 on her sides. I was told they fade by the age of 7 although on other threads about them people have posted that they can disappear sooner. Don't know about the hair though, sorry.

A friend had one on her head. Hair grew over it, such that everyone forgot it was there. When her mum thought to look for it when she was 3 or so it had gone.

Not sure about the hair growing over it, but ds , who had a large one- about the size of a saucer on his thigh, has just got the faintest hint of it now that he's 7.
