Hi,

Really at the end of my tether with fluid in my left inner ear, ive been to the drs 3 times since the end of September with this issue, it usually starts with a sinus infection( which only clears with antibiotics to a certain point never fully clears up) I had Covid in September and since that my left ear feels like its constantly full i also have vertigo along with it. My antibiotics finished on Thursday and last week I started to feel everything was improving. Awoke this morning and ear feels completely full again with a low pitched hissing noise and the dizziness is back, I feel like I have a full head cold and body aches 🫩 i am ready to loose the plot, why can't I get rid of this 😩anyone else in the same boat, any suggestions really appreciated. Thanks

Also struggling with something similar for over 10 days and I am breastfeeding so can't take decongestant. It's quite maddening being unable to breathe or hear properly, and the headache is unreal. I'm on phenoxymethylpenicillin but I'm not convinced it's working. You feel stupid being ill for so long with a kind of cold, don't you. I wonder whether you need to try a different antibiotic if it keeps coming back, or a longer course? I am also finding the sinus rinse bottle helpful (even if the relief is only temporary) - I got mine at the pharmacy but you can get them online too. Hope you feel better soon

I've started steaming again to see if that helps (no improvement so far) haven't tried the water bottle thingy dont know if i could tolerate it. Hope it clears soon waiting on a gp appointment to see if there anything that can be done. Hope you feel better soon too, its crap not being able to do your normal things

You could try physio to get it out. I had labyrinthitis a few years back- the vertigo was horrible and made me vomit.

I did the Epley manoeuvre which is really easy to do at home, there are loads of videos by physios on YouTube. It's supposed to help drain I think. Worth a try and free!

Yes try the Epley. I was v sceptical but it sorted my vertigo.

Recently I had a sudden accumulation of fluid in both ears, no infections at all. Became very deaf and was given nhs hearing aids. Then one day I woke and one ear was perfectly clear, other much improved. It's possible to have grommets fitted but the waiting list is very long.

The gp has referred me to the ENT department to see if there is something up with the tube in my ear (waiting list is a year or more long!) He thinks the infection and the fluid aren't directly related more an added effect if that makes sense

I understand. I was lucky enough to be able to see e n t privately.

Had MRI which showed fluid accumulation in both ears. No one can explain why. In one ear it disappeared as suddenly as it arrived. The other ear is slightly muffled still but not to same extent. I no longer need the hearing aids.

Try the Epley. It might work. The list is long everywhere for ent. I really feel for you. I have lots of chronic illnesses but the loss of my hearing was the most distressing.

Back on antibiotics from yesterday had to go and see the gp again the dizziness was getting to the point of making me puke again. So augmentin, serc, and two nasal sprays 🙏🙏please let this work this time
