At long last l am having an hip replacement. ( im 67). Pre op/ med next week. My surgeon said be less than 6 months wait.. im also down for any cancellation.
I already have a stair lift/ wetroom / shower seat/ toilet bar.
I have walking sticks and a zimmer frame ( but not one with wheels) will the physio let me know what else l will need and what is provided by the NHS.
Can anyone recommend anything that helped them with recovery.. no matter how big or small.
I will be home alone but l have 2 daughters and a daughter in law who will make sure one of them will come at least twice a day.
Thankyou for any advice.

Yes, physio / occupational health will let you know what equipment you need & usually provide. Usually you have to do stairs before you are let out. Maybe a toilet raiser and they usually check your main chair.

A little backpack is handy for when you are on 2 crutches, means you can carry your sandwich and a flask to your table / chair rather than at the counter.

Most importantly though is do the physio / exercises, religiously. Top priority. No problem if you do not much else at all but don't neglect them. Take the painkillers if needed. It's fine to nap / rest too. Wake / exercise / eat / nap / exercise / eat / nap on repeat is absolutely fine for a while.

Good luck!
