I did have my vaccine booked but got sick before i got it so just bad timing honestly its the most sick ive ever felt and hard to cope after 4 weeks. My legs still hurt the aches are not going finished my antibiotic for the pnemonia just desperate to feel like my old self ive never in my life had anything last so long and be as nasty . I cry with the frustration and lack of any energy and im not normally tearfull . Im begining to think its never going to get any better .

Goodness I'm sorry to hear your update OP. My friend had pneumonia earlier this year and the first two courses of antibiotics he had didn't work so I would say keep a close eye on how you're feeling and don't be afraid to go back to Dr if you don't see improvement in a few days. Sending get well soon wishes to you .

caramac04 · 18/11/2025 09:06

Hope you’re feeling better OP. It was 3 weeks for me with just flu ie no antibiotics needed.
I feel like a new woman today and yesterday walked one dog and cooked dinner .
I’ve been less poorly than you but agree the frustration at feeling useless and will it ever end is just awful.
You will get better and I hope it’s very soon. Don’t overstretch yourself when you feel more normal, you need recuperation.

I had my flu vaccine late September by the 8th October I started with the flu.
Chest infection etc. Was given antibiotics and 4 weeks. it's now 18th November and I'm just about getting better.
I do have low immunity as an ex cancer patient. I've not had my COVID vaccine yet as
I'm sure they won't give it to me.

Has anyone had acid reflux and bloating with this as well ? Its really affected my digestion

caramac04 · 21/11/2025 12:16

I thought I was over this whatever it is. But I’m not. I’ve definitely improved but any activity needs a 2 hour recovery nap.
I’m actually considering getting a one off professional clean as I keep looking at the state of the house but just have no energy to tackle it.
It’s nearly 4 weeks now. I’ve never been unwell for this long.

I've realised this is what I've come down with. Done three Covid tests, all negative.

I feel hideous. I have an underlying condition so am sort of fighting quite hard.

Paracetamol isn't touching it so I'm going to take some Naproxen. I have Sumatriptan which was amazing on day one but I can't take that every day. I've also run out of it. Have requested some rescue antibiotics.

How's everyone?

Troubler · 27/11/2025 09:43

I still have a lingering sinus/cold/sore throat but mine was definitely Covid

I have heard that Flu A this year is brutal and leading to a lot of pneumonia. We have 2 people off at work with pneumonia at the moment.

Mammaneedswinehaha · 27/11/2025 09:48

My baby boo has been sick off school for 3 days with this terrible illness! She has been puking and coughing and she is looking ghastly. I need a doctor to come and help I think. This is getting out of hand. I need wine haha

PurpleSkies2026 · 27/11/2025 19:00

That's not good about pneumonia and sorry about your baby boo.

I got antibiotics and took them with some migraine medication. Less than an hour later I coughed and puked them up. Can't lie horizontal as it makes me cough and be sick. At a loss what to do with myself.

PurpleSkies2026 · 28/11/2025 06:52

Aches and headache ( at least not as bad as it was) haven't come back. Temp down from 37.7 to 36.3. Seem to be able to lie down for a while without coughing.

However the coughing is pretty bad. It's not that productive Phlegm wise. There's tiny streaks of blood in phlegm possibly from strain of coughing. There's a sort of chest pain, part of it is just a sicky feeling. Part of it feels like someone blasted cold air through my chest. I'm in bed keeping myself warm and have got anti biotics and various other things for my sinuses. My 02 is 96 which is normal for me, usually I'm 97-99. I think I'm desaturating on moving around though to around 94 as it was 94 when I sat down then popped back up. Heart rate has come down from about 90 to mid 70s. Heating is on and fully wrapped up in cosy PJs scarf blanket hat. Having some hot toast and an apple as didn't eat much yesterday. May have warm porridge later.

I've had the pneumonia vaccine as an adult about 10 years ago. At the moment feeling like wanting to sleep for a week but also feel awake and need something to help me drift off. Is there an adult calpol 😂?

Any other advice for a speedy recovery appreciated.

I have been floored this week by it. Couldn’t get out of bed for three days straight. Feel slightly better today but totally exhausted still.

i had the jab a fortnight ago…..

baubletime · 03/12/2025 05:52

I am pretty sure DH had flu just now. He’s absolutely kanckered with it. Thought it was just a cold but was unwell over the weekend. Saw the GP on Monday and she gave antibiotics for potential chest infection. They’ve done nothing. It’s not Covid either so I am at flu. Desperately trying not to catch it as I have a trip away a week today that’s been booked since the summer.

Yes, and a bit of sickness. Same with my two kids.

It’s definitely been flu, my husband is a hospital doctor and had the joys of overhearing an online flu conference whilst in the throes of it. He’s had his vaccine at work and been the only fit person in this house. Next year vaccine for me.

Oh no i shouldn’t have opened this thread. DD2 hasn’t been great for a week but think she’s getting through it now. DH is really poorly atm. Awful cough
im sleeping on the sofa to try to avoid catching it
hope everyone feels better soon xx

caramac04 · 03/12/2025 08:19

I’m finally better as in two days without a relapse but it’s been 5 weeks of feeling utterly drained and just awful.
So glad to be better but it’s definitely affected my stamina. I have to have a breather between chores but that too will pass.
