Horrid back pain and worried this could be on going.

I'm 43 and in August I had back pain for 3 weels, it was worst when I was on holiday for a week and started just before my period and got worse about a week later. I went to the gp but by then most of the pain had gone and not really much they could say or do. I have had intermittent back pain over the years but not really anything that has lasted or been a real problem until now. I came on my period last week and felt a niggle in my back. Two days ago it got worse and yesterday I woke up in pain and literally could not do anything all day. Standing is painful, sitting is painful and bending over is impossible. I have heat patches and taking naproxen which seems to have helped a bit. It feels a bit better today but I have so much to do and can't do it. Has anyone experienced this? Could it be peri menopause related as I'm getting quite a lot of symptoms of peri anyway and it has come on the same time as my period on August (last period I was fine). I just worry that this is something which is going to keep coming back. I started doing pilates a couple of months ago to help strengthen my back and I am overweight but day to day I'm fine. My periods over the last year have gone a bit weird and I've had scans and blood tests to rule out any serious conditions due to family history. They came back clear and my last smear a few weeks ago was clear. Anyone have any thoughts or has this happened to you?

If it’s recurring and is affecting your day to day activities you need to go back to the GP for a proper diagnosis. Our GP would give you immediate access to a physio who would likely be better able to diagnose what’s going on. You don’t have a history of endometriosis do you?
