Does anyone know anything about how to interpret Summary Care Records?

Just wondering if there’s anyone about who works in a GP surgery who might be able to interpret something for me?

I have been referred for an ADHD assessment and was required to get a Summary Care Record from my GP which I have done.

Under the heading ‘Active Problems’ is a table with three columns. In the first column it says ‘Lower Risk Drinking’ In the second column it says ‘Major Episode’, and in the third column it says ‘April 2023- Ongoing’

I don’t know what any of this means! I don’t have a drinking problem and have never reported one to my Dr. I drink infrequently and lightly- probably averages out to 0-2 units a week. I typically go for a couple of months without drinking and just occasionally drink at special occasions or on holiday.

I’m most likely overthinking this, and of course I can go to the GP surgery tomorrow to ask the receptionist, but I am likely to spend the evening worrying about it now until I can speak to someone about it.

So in the meantime, if anyone here knows what it means, I’d love to know!

Do you not have an option for Full Summary Cate Records?

Mine has both.

Hi, I’m not sure but the assessors only want a brief summary just in case they diagnose me and I want to try medication.

I popped into the Drs today to query it, and one of the secretaries told me it’s just the way it’s coded and said that other HCPs would understand that it’s just saying my drinking is low risk. I don’t like the way it appears under the heading ‘Problems’ and I told the secretary that but she just sort of looked at me blankly 😂

Have the 3 columns got headings. 2 and 3 might not be related to alcohol

OP I can confirm that this is just how things are coded - 'problems' means anything current, so this just means you've recently been documented as low alcohol risk. Things like 'non-smoker' or 'cervical smear up to date' can also appear as 'issues' in 'current problems' for this same reason. Definitely nothing to worry about :)
