So I want to start taking control I’m feeling crap. I eat the best I can but don’t like fish and probably struggle to eat enough protein.

I’ve bought just some boots brands vitamins. Multivitamin with iron, omega 3, vitamin d and magnesium.

what’s everyone’s thoughts. I have recently had slightly low haemoglobin so need bloods done again soon. But until then I want to try and just feel a bit more me!!

im sure I’m going through peri but can’t be sure. Also just been told I have a small fibroid on the wall of my womb. So now wondering weather I’m experiencing peri symptoms or whether it’s gaeny related.

I wouldn't ever recommend boots or H&B vitamins or multivitamins either.

I use B12, zinc, Vitamin D 4000iu, Magnesium Glycinate 450mcg of elemental magnesium.
I buy them all off amazon, various brands including: nutrition geeks, vitabright, and zipvit.

It is good idea to have various things tested so you know what to supplement.

I have had bloods. But you know what the doctors are like. I have so many symptoms. Fatigue being a big one. They just don’t care, sent away to have repeat bloods in a month, if they are normal they won’t do anything or see me about them. Feeling so flat and exhausted at the minute. I have a 4 year old so that’s no good!
sorry for the rant. Crap sleep and woke up at 5.30 by the little man. Feeling yet again exhausted.

why wouldn’t you recommend boots?

Because they don't contain high enough doses to make a difference.

B complex, D (must be with K2 for absorption) and Zinc are all good for fatigue.

However you now mention you have a small child which makes me think your Ferritin might be quite low?

Can you see your results on the NHS app?

I wouldn’t buy multivitamins, you’re getting a bit of everything rather than targeting what you need. Use up what you’ve got now, but then I’d suggest buying specific ones.
As an example, you’ve mentioned tiredness, so I’d go for vitamin B complex. I’d also look at your iron.
If you had trouble sleeping in peri I’d suggest magnesium glycinate.
If you had achy joints in peri I’d suggest a good quality omega 3.
How old are you?

Tamfs · 30/10/2025 07:16

I take Omega 3-6-9, Vitamin D, Magnesium Biglycinate and a B vitamin. Along with increasing protein. These have made all the difference to me. In contrast to PP, I only buy from boots and H&B now, I tried a few online ones via Amazon and found the quality inconsistent. Although I haven't tried nutrition geeks. I do watch the dosages though, and follow what a nutritionist advised rather than the labels necessarily.

Also op, some things are better absorbed in a certain way.

So take vitamin D and K2 with fat, as it is fat soluble. Don't take zinc at the same time as magnesium as they stop the other absorbing.

No we don’t have that up and running here. I know my haemoglobin was slightly low. But when I spoke to the doctor she was waiting in the rest. Now I’ve received a message saying repeat bloods. So I’ll have to ring. Also had an ultrasound in the meantime and found a small fibroid. Yes I have a 4 year old and it’s amazing but sleep is hard!

so vitamin d should be taken with k2? My partner takes vit d and k2 but I think it was 100mg and I read recommended was 10?

so maybe the multi vit isn’t a good idea. What are b vitamins?

im 39 no one has mentioned peri. But feel like something is going on. It’s crazy. I’m having such random symptoms and I feel my patience is so low.

so I have a multi vit with iron, maybe I need to chuck this, but because of the low haemoglobin thought it’s something?

and I’ve started… vitamin d. Omega 3. Magnesium. But only been 2 days for these. All boots brands.

I’m currently taking:

Floradix iron tablets
A b vitamin complex
high strength vitamin D
Magnesium
a hair and nail supplement (Glowwa)
omega 3,6&9

dontletmedownbruce · 31/10/2025 07:01

i take a high-strength Vit D, a ferritin fumarate or ferrous sulphate (i alternative) and a fish oil, every day. I definitely feel much better since I started this.

paristotokyo · 31/10/2025 07:14

I’d definitely ask your dr for a copy of your blood test results. And then I’d research what each level should be for optimum levels and not what your dr may fob you off with being just ‘acceptable’. Once you’ve established what your body actually needs, then research what the best way of taking those are. As certain things need to be taken on an empty stomach, with vitamin c or whatever it is for optimal absorption. I’ve also had to go privately for treatment as my dr just wasn’t treating a deficiency I had effectively enough to make a difference to how I was feeling. Good luck

Thatsanotherfinemess1 · 31/10/2025 07:29

I photographed my blood test results and asked chatgpt to interpret them. I got a detailed breakdown of what each thing was and what I could do to optimise levels, it even offered to make a list of well reviewed brands. I double checked and the info was really accurate (surprisingly for AI)

Oh yes, iron is much better absorbed every other day, empty stomach along with a high strength vitamin C tablet. (orange juice can also be used, but I don't like it, too sweet and gives me a sugar crash).
