Cathator at home

My dad is 90 and from last week has to wear a cathator at home as not able to fully empty urine.
Doctor says they see a tumor but because of age reluctant to operate.
Does anyone know of anyone went through similar.

Lots of older men have permanent catheters due to not being able to pass urine adequately. The main thing is making sure that the risk of infection is reduced as they are at more risk of urine infections with an indwelling catheter. Also need to make sure it is adequately secured so not pulling and to keep an eye on it that it is draining as they can be prone to getting blocked. His district nurse should make sure it is changed maybe every 8 or 12 weeks depending on protocol.

I've known lots of elderly men with indwelling catheters, who were at home.

As long as they remember to empty the bag, and get treatment for UTIs it won't be a problem.
