Raised basophils

Hi
I had a full blood count and ferritin blood test at GP last week due to ongoing unexplained symptoms - exhaustion, dizziness, stomach issues, breathlessness to name but a few…
GP has marked as normal no further action but when checking the NHS app for results (as advised by GP) I noticed that basophils are slightly above range and haematocrit is slightly below. Everything else is in range. Ferritin is 19 (already on supplements) which I know isn’t great but considered normal by GP.
It’s the raised basophils that are worrying me. I haven’t had any kind of virus, infection or allergic reaction. Quick Google suggests that even mildly raised basophils should be repeated/investigated especially as I’m feeling so rubbish!
Is anyone able to advise or reassure?
Thank you

Your symptoms are all easily explained by sub-optimal iron stores. If you have other symptoms like unexplained bruising, fevers, lumps, etc, you need follow up tests. If you still feel vile in a week or two, go back and ask for another test.

Basophils are a rare white blood cell (as in they are normal, we just don't have many of them). So if they find a few extra it will make the total go out of range straight away. So chances are your sample just had a couple kicking around but overall you don't have loads (as is expected).

Thanks @Francestein But I don’t know what I can do about my ferritin as been taking supplements long term, decent diet, etc. GP says it’s normal even though there are small signs of anaemia in FBC.

And thanks @Finsburyfancy But surely that’s what the range is for? Range is 0.02 to 0.1 and my result was 0.21. It’s just that everything I’ve read says raised basophils should always be investigated or at least repeated. If I felt great I wouldn’t worry, but I don’t!

Maybe I’m clutching at straws!
