What is causing chronic pain in right hand side?

This might be outing so changed my name.

For over a year now I've had burning pain, tightness in my muscles and tingling/pins and needles from my lower back and down my leg on the right hand side. I also have this down my right hand shoulder and arm, which also feels heavy. Occasionally I get tingling on my scalp. It's generally worse with rest.

Ultrasound on hip showed a small amount of tendon inflammation but MRI of my pelvis and lumbar spine showed nothing. Ultrasound of right shoulder shows nothing. I've tried nsaids with limited success, NHS physio beyond useless. Have just started seeing an osteopath for some pain relief.

I'll have to make yet another GP appointment but they just keep saying to exercise and see how it goes. My surgery has practically no appointment availability so will be weeks until I can see my doctor again. I am feeling so hopeless that I'm struggling to advocate for myself.

What could this be? Has anyone ever had similar? I have only just turned 40, no other health issues. I'm not over weight but this is seriously affecting my ability to exercise.

Sciatica? Do NSAIDs help with pain?

CrimsonKitty · 19/10/2025 22:36

My GP was concerned about sciatica and hence the MRI of my lumbar spine and hip area, but was all clear. I also have tingling in my arm and occasionally my scalp, although the latter is since I last saw my doctor. Nsaids can take the edge off but not a huge help.

I have something similar going on at the moment. All down my leg, front and back, feels like an icey burning sensation. I also get a little patch of it on my finger randomly too!

I'm wondering if it's partly related to perimenopause...
