MiL health - Vit B12 deficiency

Asking for guidance how to support.
Mil has been to A&E 4 times in the last 6 months with breathing issues and uncontrolled heart rate.
Lots of tests showing nothing. ECG normal, MRI, chest X-ray, all normal.
She has been very frightened and has said she had said goodbye to FiL as she knew it was the end of her life.
She is 84 years old and has type 2 diabetes controlled with metformin and diet for the last 30 years.
Random doctor this time at A&E suggested looking at connection to Metformin and vit B12.
Dr Google suggests this might be the solution. She has stopped Metformin immediately and is going back on Monday to get Vit injection.
So to my question...
How can we support her? does anyone have experience of stopping metformin with her diabetes.
Thanks

Has she a gp appt? She needs to discuss with them about stopping metformin.Has she had her B12 tested, it's not clear. Could she not take metformin AND replace b12? Maybe there is something else instead metformin?

She needs a Dr's appointment.

She shouldn't be stopping the metformin without GP input. She would be better continuing to take it while supplementing B12 and getting GP advice

If you are seriously B12 deficient you need to ‘front load’ the medication and almost have the injections back to back for several weeks then have an agreed schedule.
Stopping metformin without discussion with GP is irresponsible. You don’t know if that’s the issue. Make her a GP appointment.

This. When I began B12 it was 3 a week, then two, then weekly, for a month, then fortnightly for a month, then monthly and eventually every 8 weeks.

thanks
it was the doctor at a&e who told her to stop immediately on Tuesday. She hasn't taken it since.
She has to return to the hospital on Monday for further test results. Her B12 number was 70 something (she couldn't remember).

@StrumpersPlunkettunless that doctor was a consultant and knows your mum historically I would see the GP as well to keep them abreast of the situation (only because it can take a while for one to catch up with the other)

thank you, I believe it was a consultant but will check with her.
I also know that she has had a really hard time with her surgery telling her there is nothing wrong with her for the last 6 months so although I will be encourage her to see them I think it may be an uphill battle.
