Anyone bought a more expensive wool duvet for their toddler? Is it worth the money in terms of preventing over heating?

Ds is ready now to go from cot to bed and I'm looking at duvets. There are lots of 4.0 tog duvets out there which are hollowfibre, going upto about £15 for a cotbed duvet.

Or there are natural wool duvets which claim this:

This pure wool cot bed duvet is breathable, helping to regulate your baby's body temperature. 100% natural fibre wool filling, which is non-allergic and a natural dust mite deterrent. Washing machine and tumble drier safe. Cover 100% cotton, filling 100% wool.

for about £30. I'm happy to pay extra IF it is better for ds.

Anyone have one?

Can it be washed? You are going to find when the time comes for moving out of nappies that everything needs to be washed A LOT!!

If you can afford it and it's what you want then go for it!

Yes it can be machinewashed and tumbled dried.

But doesn't say what tog it is. None of the wool ones do.

Sounds lovely Seeing what wool wraps etc are like for temp control. i'd love one for me

I'm just worried that because it doesn't have a tog rating, it'll end up being hotter than a 4.0 tog duvet.

(I know, I know, I'm anal about these things!)

Does it have a weight - a few sites I googled had weights.

Flamesparrow · 04/06/2008 21:12

200 gsm is about 2-3 tog

worriedashamed · 04/06/2008 21:14

Silk? Hmmmmmmmmm?

Off to search the net...

Found one thats a weight of 350gsm. What tog rating would that be?

The others in mothercare and babies r us don't give a weight.

oooh, this has got me thinking. DD is actually, 2.9 and still in her cot in our room (logistics). She sleeps in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag. Why then do i like to sleep in a 15tog duvet?? I guess the answer is because its not fully enclosed? Honestly, im puzzled about this - so when i move her to a quilt i still have to stress about tog ratings, or is she to old for this?

I would be quite tempted by the wollen duvets to be honest, we are strapped for cash but i think £30 sounds reasonable, so long as when it says you can wash it, you can wash it, over and over

Does weight equate to tog rating though? I would have thought not, depending on the ?? heat conductivity of the material? But then, 10gsm wool is going to be proportional to 100 gsm wool, but not to 100gsm other material? feathers? Not entirely sure about this though
