Would you go to the dr's if you had this many infections?

Over the past three months, I've had mastitis, thrush, flu, pleurisy, a sore throat virus with vomitting and another two episodes of D&V (depsite rigorous hand washing). It is getting to the point of being a bit ridiculous. My boss sounded a little annoyed to say the least when I said that I was poorly again. I was starting to think that maybe I should go and see the GP to find out if there is a reason for the constant infections but thought that I was being ridiculous. Now my mum is going on at me about going and finding out if there is a problem. Would you go? Is the GP going to think that I'm a complete nutter and wasting his time?

Are you run down?
Eating well?

emma1977 · 04/06/2008 21:16

No, you could do with having some baseline bloods done to exclude anaemia, low white cell count and immunoglobulins.

emma1977 · 04/06/2008 21:17

I assume you're not diabetic?

Swaliswan · 04/06/2008 21:23

I'm not diabetic, I am a bit run down but I am eating well (apart from when I have vomitting bugs!). I had wondered about anaemia as I never truly felt that I got over my anaemia from DD being born (although I did have venefor infusions). My periods are getting closer and closer together - now 25 days instead of 37 day cycle.

Get to the docs for a check up! No doc is going to think you are wasting his time with this many issues - you owe it to yourself to look after you.

Thanks. I guess that I'll have to go and see the GP and see what he says. I feel like such a hypochondriac (sp?) and am worried that GP will think I am or tell me that it's normal given that I have a one year old.

Sure he won't! Let us know how you get on.

Sounds like you are run down,I am pre meltus diebetic.I hate sitting in the docs.I get so stressed. My blood presure was 156/110 when i finaly got to see doctor.I only went as i had sprained my ankle and needed a certificate for work. The doc weighed me.took blood presure height etc.I had a appointment but was in the waiting area for over an hour. my husband also had an appointment as he has a very bad knee and he was called up at the same time his appointment was.I just seem to have white coat sydrome. When i got back from docs took my own blood presure it was so much lower. The doctor asked me to moniter my blood presure as she seemed very concerned.Think i need a medical.Of course i wont have 1 .Hate doctors i am frightened what they will find wrong with me next.

my mum felt like she was 'just a moaning old hypochondriac' when she was generally and non-specifically unwell fairly constantly over a period of a couple of years... eventually it turned out to be something fairly major, easily dealt with with an operation. it was a bit that she had it, but she said, such a releif to know it wasnt all in her mind, and since the op has been herself again.
if youre wqorried, check it out
