Does anyone take Atomoxetine/Strattera for Inattentive ADHD?

And if so how do you find it? I've been prescribed it today and I'm feeling a bit anxious about it. I'm starting on a low dose (25mg) for 28 days as I'm worried about side effects affecting my work then doubling to 50mg. I've been prescribed a non-stimulant as I have medicated high blood pressure and am sensitive to stimulants. TIA.

My DH takes it for his Inattentive ADHD. It helps. He also takes prescription stimulants. He gets aggressive from Strat so can only take it every second day. Still helps him.

@FeralWoman Aggressive? Oh no, that's a concern. What dose is he on, do you know?

60mg every second day. It’s a rare side effect.

He didn’t believe me for months. He thought that I was being a bitch or that he was justified in being annoyed/cranky/upset or that he wasn’t any different to normal. His psychiatrist suggested a trial of every second day after hearing of my concerns. The medication has a long half life so it stays in the body for ages so every second day didn’t mean that he was missing any days of being medicated with it. Once he switched to every second day he started to notice the difference in his mood and behaviour and believed me. I think he was on 80mg daily at one stage. Just too high for his body.

It does definitely help him, from what he’s described. He’s also on Dex and Ritalin LA. His ADHD is a bit tricky. He’s also on an antidepressant for depression.

If you have someone close to you that you trust to give you honest feedback then they’d be a good way to check if you’re getting a side effect of aggression. It’s rare. Rare enough that the psychiatrist hadn’t encountered it before and had to check if it was a listed side effect. It’s less than 1% of patients I think so you’re unlikely to experience it.

Give it a go. If it doesn’t help then you can stop taking it.

Gosh, that sounds stressful for you all. Thank you for your reply.

I've been reading up all day on Atomoxetine, it's my current ADHD focus 😄
