Dentists in North London

Could anyone recommend me a good NHS dentist in North London ?

Don't laugh! Let me dream!!!

I've got one just across the road from where I live but he is really not serious and not professional at all?
And I think I need to go soon cuz one of my tooth is hurting.

(of course I am assuming that I can't have free dentist with a private dentist - Im pregnant)

where abouts in North London are you?

"North London" is kind of a wide search base, but Alexandra Park Dentists are very good. They haven't tried to "up sell" me any work despite knowing I have private dental insurance as well as being on free maternity dental at the moment, which is more than I can say for my last couple of dentists.

So how does it work with this free dentist business? Can I turn up to any dentist and request free treatment? Or do i need to find a NHS dentist 9as opposed to private)?

Choco - I'm in Wood Green

12ygap - thanks, i'll check it out. I also have a BUPA insurance but have no ideas how to use it... I guess i need to ring them..

I did this when I was PG as my dentist turned private a while ago and I fancied some free care! I went to my DH's in whetstone (so probably a bit far for you) and just filled in a form it was very easy.

Just googled and there is an NHS page which shows you all near you www.nhs.uk/ServiceDirectories.

One thing to look out for though. I went along with my big belly for my lovely free checkup. Dentist did a cursory exam then said you are fine but book for cleaning 2 x a year it's £30 or something a pop.

So although the dentist is free the dental hygienist may not be. Was a bit surprised as actually it meant that the "free" dentist cost more than by private one! If you need treatment though it will be worth it.

might be a bit far then but can recommend a lovely dentist in Cockfosters (so would just be a few stops up the Piccadilly line). We still use him inspite of having moved further out into Hertfordshire.
