Can anyone kindly help me by telling me what the medication name is at top? The lower one is Dalteparin, but the one beginning with C? Cofar.....? Google is no help.
It's taken 2 weeks to get this copy of my notes and cannot wait another 2 weeks to get them to decode this, as I need the info before my NHS allergy test on Monday. TIA!

cefuroxime.

Lookingback29 · 09/10/2025 12:39

I think it must be cefuroxime but was it outside of UK? There maybe a different brand name as it doesn’t look like cefuroxime

what were you in for? An infection?

TheOliveFinch · 09/10/2025 12:39

Could be cofarin can’t read the end bit which is warfarin

Wouldn’t be correct dosage

Greybeardy · 09/10/2025 12:41

it's deffo cefuroxime (doi: doctor with terrible handwriting)

SquirrelsAreGo · 09/10/2025 12:42

If you're happy to say what you were being treated for, it may help confirm the answer, because I wouldn't be able to swear to anything with this handwriting... and doctor's handwriting is my speciality 😊

Thanks I didn’t look at the dosage so not very helpful of me

MissMoneyFairy · 09/10/2025 13:09

Cefuroxime powder comes in 750mg bottles so the 1.5g could be the loading dose. If that's a drug chart it could also be written in the notes to double check

Hi all, thanks for your comments, it was a knee revision. I had told them I was previously allergic to Codeine, so trying to get a complete list of what was given to me for pain relief (and whatever else was given at the time), so I assume a pain med? I have deciphered the rest -
Oxynorm 10mg
Cyclizine 50mg
Oxycontin 10mg
Prochlorperazine 12.5mg
Oramorph 5-10mg
Dalteparin
Paracetamol
Lactulose

Oxycontin,
just this one I can't make out. Thanks

Ok just looked up Cefuroxime and that would make sense as I also told them I have an allergy to Penicillin

OP posts:
cornflakesandtea · 09/10/2025 16:20

Almost certainly cefuroxime as it’s the antibiotic most commonly used for joint replacements (in our trust at least)

Portakalkedi · 09/10/2025 22:35

Thanks so much, I would never have deciphered that!

the clinic should already have a copy of all the drugs you were given and the obs charts and whatnot in the referral if it's an allergy clinic so there shouldn't be too much deciphering to do.

the knee surgery was private, the allergy clinic is NHS so apparently no sharing of such info

The private clinic should send you your notes and a post op discharge summary/letter if you ask them,
