I've never really suffered a lot with periods, and after having the DCs, they were heavier but not painful in the slightest. My last few periods have been a different story, they are really heavy for the first few hours and I'm forever changing pads and tampons, but the real problem is the pain. For about an hour, it's like being in labour and I get these awful waves of pain like contractions that stop me in my tracks and make me gasp. Today I've had this on and off all day and have been taking ibuprofen and paracetamol. Not sure when painful periods warrant a trip to the GP. Advice and experience please girls. Thanks

Painful periods ruined my teenage years. They are DEFINITELY a reason to go to docs. There could be an underlying prob, but even if not, just get some stronger pain killers. Don't suffer like I did for years.

oh yes, doesn't sound right as they have changed so greatly recently - definitely a trip to the doctors, I reckon

I'm sure you're right. Have quite a high pain threshold too, 9lb 14 oz baby came out of me with no pain relief (big gloating type of emoticon), she messed my innards up though and I wonder if its anything to do with all the stitching etc I had. It was three years ago now though, so still a little odd.
