Mitchum bad batch

Not sure if this is the right place to post but I’ve had a reaction to a bad batch of Mitchum. My arm pits are itchy and sore. Does anyone have any advice for soothing the rash? Obviously I’ll stop using the deodorant!

I had this a few weeks ago and realised my deodorant was part of a bad batch. I started moisturising under my arms which helped a bit. I’m now using one of the Mitchum sprays instead and not having any more problems

Oh, interesting. I have just declared I seem to be suddenly allergic to deodorants and swapped to Sanex. I binned my Dove spray as the culprit but now wonder if it's the Mitchum roll on I also use.

We usually use Sure but I bought Mitchum recently and it's really thick and sticky. It sticks to my clothes and leaves big white marks. Bought for my daughter at the same time and she says it's making her armpits itchy.

I’m sure I saw a news article on this.

Yes it’s a known problem with some recent batches, but what I’m asking is does anyone recommend anything in particular to soothe a bad reaction.

Thanks, I’ll try that. Yes I saw the news on holiday over the summer but had forgotten by the time moved on to the next roll on.

I’ve used it for years and never had a problem. Apparently some recent batches were defective. You can check their website for more info.

E45 but it will really sting.

Take some antihistamines and use hydrocortisone cream on the rash. Ice packs/ frozen peas wrapped in teatowel if you find that helps.

rurbane · 02/10/2025 19:29

I used a Dove stick deodorant for a few days, the kind that pushes up like a Pritt stick. It calmed my skin down very quickly but isn'tas effective. I've decided to use this on days where I'm at home and Mitchum for days when I'm more concerned about being a bit sweaty.

Lozza70 · 02/10/2025 19:42

its not the first time there has been a bad batch of Mitcham. I had massive issues a number of years ago with bad burns under my arms. I found ice packs soothed a little along with moisturising with a sensitive moisturiser. I switched to Sure cream moisturiser and it has been really effective and no more burns!

ChatHRT · 02/10/2025 19:47

Sudocrem worked for me - I had awful burns from it a few weeks ago

Piggywaspushed · 02/10/2025 19:51

Thanks for the heads up. I examined mine but it isn't one of the batch numbers so that's odd.

rookiemere · 02/10/2025 19:53

I phoned the helpline and they said to avoid using any deodorant until the irritation has cleared up.

Wizardonabroom · 02/10/2025 19:58

Same happened to me early July before it came out in the news.

Lots of Sudocrem at bedtime. Use a gentle spray one like Sanex while the rash/burn goes away.
