does anyone else suffer with gallstones? If so how are you coping with having flare ups whilst being alone with your baby? It scares the shit out of me. I can’t move with I have flair ups. I’m on the waiting list for surgery but the doctors said I could be waiting months.

Ah yes.

I've managed mine mostly through diet - been on the waiting list for surgery for around 6 months now.

I pretty much eat no additional fat - you have to figure out what your triggers are. I'm OK with coffee, spices and alcohol but butter, olive oil and chocolate are absolutely not good. I try and keep my entire fat intake under 10g a day.

I only eat pre-made food where the traffic light is green

My meals are a variation on Prawns, chicken, turkey with pasta/ bread/ pitta bread/ cous cous rice. Lots of homemade soup and fruit. Plenty of flavourings from lemon juice, salt herbs and spices. 0% yoghurt dressings and sorbet instead of all other puddings.

Ask for buscopan and naproxen (plus lanzoprazole) on prescription. Take them all at the first sign of a twinge and you can take additional paracetamol on top as well if needed. Do not accept a codine prescription - codine can make it worse.

Lie on your left side at night and during attacks.

Report each attack to your GP. Make a note on your phone of the date and severity of the attack. The advice is actually to go to a&e but that's clearly not practical with small children.

I didn't realise that attacks were happing about 6 hrs after the trigger food for a while so didn't associate what I was eating with the attack.

I've gone from having them every couple of days to every 4 - 6 weeks.

yep find out your triggers (fizzy drink and fried foods for me) and avoid those.

and everything above poster said.

also take a note of the attacks that are not 'as bad'. some days it's just grumbling, feels more like having been kicked by a horse a big bruise.
