I have always thought of people with bad backs as old and so now I am officially old!

Have had achy back and shoulder for a while and SUnday night it went into spasm - dopey me thought I wasd having a heart attack - DH called NHS direct who called the calvalry and 10 minutes later a paramedic was here - after gas & air and a diazapan (which I have to say is far too nice!) I calmed down and am now signed off with a bad back and am on strong painkillers and have been told to rest but make sure I do enough to make sure it doesn't cease up or go into spasm again!

I feel so bloody down about it - first the kids have both had tonsilitus this year - DS twice, DD came home from her fathers Sunday soooo tired from being allowed to stay up and watch Nancy results and then doing a cycle marathon on Sunday (she is 7!) so cue huge argements with her father who says I am over protective - but he isn't the one who has to cope when she gets ill from being over tired and now with my back as well I feel like a bloody pensioner!!!

AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

Any back people who can give me any tips I would be very grateful - do I go and see an osteopath or chiroprator or just keep taking the pills and sit it out???

Am super miserable!

Poor you, I know exactly how you feel. My back problems started after I had DS1, I literally could not straighten up or even walk up stairs I was in so much pain (not great as we live in a basement flat!!) I'm not an expert but I would keep taking the pills but don't let them lull you into a false sense of security so that you start running around again. My osteo was great and helped a lot but I did have to wait about 3 months on the NHS to see one. I know it's not much of a comfort right now but it WILL get better over time

Tyhank you - I have just realised about the false sense of security bit - felt ok this morning so didn't take the drugs and am in agony now - sitting on this chair typing really doesn't help though!

I hurt my shoulder a couple of months ago
Get yourself to a physio

Am just going to peruse the Yellow Pages to see if there is one in the village who I can hobble to!

might be worth asking your GP too as you might get to see an NHS one quite quickly
