Which medication should I stop?

I’m not feeling good at all and think some of my medication could be causing side effects. I want to stop taking them but thinking would be better to stop one at a time to see which is making me unwell. Which should I stop?

My symptoms are nausea and vomiting, fatigue, weird feeling in my head, fainting, and no appetite (currently only eating around 500 calories a day).

I’m taking Mounjaro, Candesartan, and Vortioxetine. I don’t think Mounjaro is the problem as I’ve been taking it since May and only started feeling this unwell in the past two weeks. I simultaneously restarted Vortioxetine after stopping it for a few months and had my dose of Candesartan doubled two weeks ago.

I’ve been checking my BP at home and it ranges from 82/60 to 107/77 with a resting HR of 52-56

I’m thinking of stopping Vortioxetine first to see if that helps but given my BP is a little on the low side wondering if I should stick with the Vortioxetine and reduce the Candesartan. Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like you need to speak to the person prescribing so they can put it all into the context of your general health (and see if any investigations (bloods) are needed in addition).

Book a medication review with your GP surgery to discuss/help you decide. Don't just stop anything without your doctor being aware. Things like antidepressants often need to be tapered down before stopping and cold turkey can worsen side effects.

If it's just been a couple of weeks though there's a possibility that it's something viral making you feel this way; covid has always given me gastro symptoms over and above anything else.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Speak to your GP or ask for a medicines review with the practice pharmacist if you have one. You need medical advice, not thoughts from random unqualified mumsnetters.

You need a medicines review with your prescriber because going cold turkey could lead to unintended consequences. Tapering off is generally better than stopping all at once. Also the prescriber can look in more depth to see if there are obvious reasons why components of the medicines might be interacting with one another to make you feel unwell.

If you're only eating 500 calories you aren't going to feel well, it's going to affect your blood pressure, energy levels and make you feel nauseous.

Why are you asking on here? I take one of those medications and got some of your side effects for about a month until my body got used to it.
But with your combination of meds, side effects and low calories you need a professional.

Is the mounjaro prescribed by your GP?

SlinkySnail · 25/09/2025 17:45

I was asking because people might have knowledge of which is more likely to be causing the side effects or if it’s maybe a combination of all of them? I do plan on seeing the GP but my appointment is not until next week.

I only restarted Vortioxetine two weeks ago so I’d be fine stopping it cold turkey. I do remember it causing a lot of nausea and vomiting when I took it previously but not this weird unwell feeling and fainting.

Mounjaro is private prescription and I’m on the lowest dose.

It may not be the individual medications but the interaction between them. Ask a pharmacist whether you can change timing you take them to reduce the risk.
