I have been using my moon cup for the first time, I have been using it since Friday and now I have a rather large swelling inside my vagina, quite high up. Are the two connected or is it something else?? HELP

Could it be your cervix (it moves up and down throughout the month?

My vagina has a bulgy/blobby bit lower down. Can't remember if it was there pre-births. I've googled it and briefly shat myself that it could be a mild prolapse. Then I figured that even if it was a prolapse, it doesn't actually bother me and has no symptoms, so I haven't been to the doc.

Anyone??????

I'm not taking the piss but it's not your cervix is it?
otherwise. texture of lump? front or back wall of vagina? does it feel like you need to pee if you push it? coud be bladdar wall pushing through knackered vag muscle. do you need a pooh? could be lumpy bit inside colon.
is it there all the time or does it come and go?

NigellaTheUndomesticGoddess · 02/06/2008 20:46

i think i meant rectum not colon then.

singyswife · 02/06/2008 20:47

I did wonder if it was a prolape, it is not bothering me, it has been a bit tender when removing my mooncup. TMI I know but I have never had to fish around up there before so I wouldnt actually know if it is 'normal' for me.

Okay I am a complete wally, How would I know what my cervix feels like????? I can only describe it as a large swelling with what feels like a hole or a gap in it/. God I am pulling faces at myself as I type this. I cant beleive I am telling strangers things like this.

sounds like your cervix.

TrinityTheProgressingRhino · 02/06/2008 20:51

I think that is your cervix

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 02/06/2008 20:51

That's def your cervix if it has a hole in it, you're fine

RiojaLover75 · 02/06/2008 20:55

Most definately sounds like a cervix. Once you've had a baby everything changes down there and it can be a bit .

singyswife · 02/06/2008 20:55

Will it go away again (reduce in swelling I mean)? Should I stop using the mooncup???? Have never had this before and am slightly panicking.

do you think you are maybe putting the mooncup in a bit high? if it is getting in the way of your cervix then you probably are inserting it too far - it doesn't need to go all the way in like a tampon

try inserting it just far enough so that none of it actually protrudes
that should be comfortable and make removal easier
and you shouldn't have to worry about that pesky old cervix any more

girlnextdoor · 02/06/2008 20:59

How far up is it? sorry to ask for tmi but how far can you get your finger in before you feel it? Your cervix will never go away , lol, but if it's in the right place, then it should be roughly a finger's length up your vagina- mines a bit lower as I had a prolapse then had it repaired and it's okay but not quite as high as it was, pre- babies.

singyswife · 02/06/2008 21:02

I know my cervix will never go away lol. I meant the swelling. It is prob about a fingers length up. TBH it does sound like I have been putting the mooncup too far in and it has irritated it a bit. I will leave it for a couple of days and see what happens. I dont think for one minute it is anything sinister, my first thought was that something had slipped down but on seeing your replies I think I may just have irritated it. Thank you all.

if you got some suction on it when removing it I would imagine it would smart a bit tbh and may well be a bit swollen
other than that I think it does move around during the month

singyswife · 02/06/2008 21:11

Thank you I feel much better now. Feel like a fool but feel much better.

yes be sure to break the seal as you remove or it will be like a plumbers plunger and be a bit ouch.....

I was a mooncup virgin till this month too btuam learning......

BirthdayBabe · 02/06/2008 21:18

You're going to laugh... I went to my gp about that lump I could feel and obviously it was my cervix. Another embarassing moment to add to my list . Thank god he didn't comment on it ...

ManhattanMama · 02/06/2008 21:25

Me too! I went to the docs aged about 17 as I'd found this big lump down there which I'd never noticed before. He got the nurse in to chaperone then said "Yes, that would be your cervix"

Mine becomes noticable 2 or 3 days into my period, it gets hard to insert a tampon without knocking against it which can be pretty uncomfortable. THen it goes away again!

singyswife · 02/06/2008 21:26

Yeah I have just been pulling it out and it has been very very ouch. All these things are learning curves I suppose but at the age of nearly 30 I thought I would have known what my cervix felt like. Thank you all for making me feel better
