Long-term very small, painless growth or lump inside mouth/throat

I’ve had this for maybe six months to a year — I notice it now and then, then forget for ages. It’s starting to bother me that it hasn’t gone away.

It almost feels like a skin tag in the upper part of my throat, to one side. It’s not tender or sore if I touch it.

Nothing I see when I Google really seems very similar. I’m going to ring up tomorrow to make a GP appointment, but I’m sort of worried now. No other symptoms. Has anyone had similar?

My friend had something like a calcium stone I think.

Dentist might be best for this. I had a lump on the roof of my mouth, right at the back and the dentist referred me to Maxilo-facial at the hospital. Thankfully benign.

Tonsil stone?

stupidannoyingtaxthing · 16/09/2025 21:15

Thanks. I did actually mention it to the dentist last time I visited, and he couldn’t see what I meant. Then I tried to feel for it, couldn’t ‘find’ it with my finger to show him, got flustered and just gave up.

But he did say it would probably be a GP thing rather than something for him.

It’s not a tonsil stone, at least not as I know that term, but I’m not familiar with the term calcium stone — I’ll look that up.

Sorry for double posting!

I think I have something similar and it comes and goes. Dentist thinks it's a blocked salivary gland / salivary stone.
Yours is in the same place as mine!
Keep hydrated and eat sour things to get the salivary going was tue advise for me.

Oh that’s reassuring if it’s in the same place! Now that I’ve properly acknowledged it as a slight worry, I’m kind of seeking non-scary explanations to stop me spiralling until I can get it looked at.

So, yes it could conceivably be mouth cancer, @Allthesnowallthetime — but obviously I’m trying not to jump right to that 😖
