Rotator cuff tear recovery

So my physio thinks I have a torn rotator cuff and I’m waiting for a scan. MAde the fatal error of watching some TikTok videos (think TikTok knows I’ve been looking up exercises for strengthening the rotator cuff) and lots of people saying even with surgery you’re unlikely to recover and could well be in pain and limited movement for ever.

Is this right? Has anyone had surgery and been ok? Or recovered just from exercising?

I tore mine in a car accident. I am hypermobile. Physio did nothing for me. Steroid injections really helped.

7 years on, it’s pretty much back to normal, but I have to be very careful not to strain it.

Foolishly, I didn't seek treatment for mine.
For a year I had limited mobility in my left arm: I wasn't able to raise my arm beyond shoulder level and when I did, it was very painful.
I was fully recovered within 18 months.

My husband tore his over the covid period.

The gp sent him for an xray which said nothing broken and do physio. He eventually used his private insurance and the surgeon sent him for an ultra sound which spotted it.

He had it sewn in 21. Generally its ok. Generally movement has improved and from before surgery to after it made a huge improvement.
