Anyone had a tooth abscess? What do they feel like?

Urgh am I starting with an abscess? 😩

Gum feels slightly tender at my back bottom molar (not wisdom tooth, I never had any come through 😌) its not sore at all but I can feel it if that makes sense. Can brush it, tongue it, poke it etc. But somethings THERE...there is a slight bump on the gum 😩 had this for about 2 days.

Do abscesses creep up or do they just appear with the agony you generally hear about? Ive scratched my gum before on hard crispy food and it kind of feels a bit like that, but that normally goes pretty quickly and ive never noticed a bump 😩

Second the Corsodyl, the proper stuff not the mouthwash. Try to head it off before it gets started.

I've had a couple of abscesess and they escalate really really quickly. My worst one took three lots of antibiotics to clear, for several days I could hardly move my jaw and had to sleep sitting up. Do not recommend.

My advice is that you don’t wait to see if it gets bad or worse, but that you call the dentist on Monday for an appointment. They can do an X ray to see if there’s decay or an infection. Neither of these will go away on their own.

Well. It is an abscess 😩

After it shrank it popped up again so I went to the dentist.

It's painless as its draining on its own for now, and (currently) only very small on the gum. She couldnt do an xray at the time but couldn't see an obvious crack or anything going on with the actual tooth. But I've been given antibiotics and going back in a week for an xray.
