I was going through some old files yesterday and came across a colposcopy report from an appointment I'd had 5 years ago. This was during covid and I paid to see someone privately because I was worried about some very light mid-cycle bleeding and an ecotopian that had been discovered around the same time. Anyway, the appointment was very re-assuring, I saw a really good consultant who told me everything looked fine and the light bleeding was almost certainly hormonal as it happened at almost the same time every month, close to ovulation.
Thing is.... i just noticed on the report that it says I have a 'very small polyp in the endocervical canal.. too small to remove' - I can't even remember being told this and so I quickly googled and everything I can find online seems to advise these being removed on identification and checked just in case because a small proportion can be dodgy..... This was 5 years ago so now I'm panicking a bit.
I have health anxiety which makes it weirder because I don't remember the consultant telling me about the small polyp and I don't remember discussing any kind of management plan so I guess she must not have been worried about it. Does anyone have polyps or know anything about them? Is it OK just to leave them, or should I go and get it checked out? I don't have any symptoms except that my periods are getting a bit more painful, but I'm also v perimenopausal. Is it the case that these are sometimes just left alone?
