Cerazette again and other alternatives? TMI

Hello All

I have been taking cerazette for just less than a year after birth of DS3. I can't take standard combined pill as I have had DVT in the past. I have just decided to stop cerazette, I've had no period the whole time I was on it but cramps, a complete loss of libido (dr laughed and said it was just because I have 3 children but sure not this) and when we do have intercourse it is bordering on painful (TMI - sorry but lack of fluid shall we say)I'm in a complete flap now as I don't want to be sterilised, I think we have completed our family but I am 34 and it seems youngish to be contemplating such a drastic step. My DH will not use contraceptives (don't have a go, I know it is unreasonable but he is catholic and I have to respect this as he is wonderful in every other way). The coil is also out for the Catholic Church too. I did use persona for 4 years without a problem as was very strict. Is this the only option I have? Thanks for all your help in advance

Can you take the combined pill or patch (the pill in weekly patch form)? Tends to cause fewer problems with libido and vaginal dryness.

There's also the depo injection and implant, but they both contain progesterones similar to cerazette.

How about a diaphragm? You can get measured at FPC.

Natural FP can be as effective as the pill when done properly, as you have proved!

Could you combine natural family planning/fertility awareness with perhaps the cap or diaphragm when you know you're fertile? I'm guessing that your husband might be OK with the cap because although it's a barrier method it's you who'd be using it, unlike condoms, and unlike the coil/hormones there's no chance of it preventing the implantation of a fertilised egg.

Thank you so much for your wonderful advice, and for not being judgemental regarding DH! I am going to investigate the cap. Thanks again

I am on that atm and my libido has gone. I seem to be stuck for the momnet as I need hormones for something else.

So it is not just my imagination or tiredness, cerazette really does diminue your libido. The dr made me feel very silly. Hope you get it sorted out too, the normal pill was fine for me before (did not have any of these probs with dryness and libido)
