Hi, could somebody tell me that these thyroid test results are ok. Especially the trend.
I have lots of symptoms but they seem to be in range 🤷‍♀️ Also my folate levels are 2.9.
Many Thanks

My symptoms are bone crushing fatigue, upon standing i feel like i am about to faint. Burning sensation in feet at night.
Last week i had a feeling that ice cold liquid was being poured on to a patch of my thigh. Mild headaches in the evening along with fuzzy head, lightheadedness and aching joints. Mainly ankles, wrists, right knee and right shoulder. Lower back pain has been present for a few years but managable.

Your folate is on the floor, that will make you feel awful. Can't comment on your thyroid results but youll need to get your folate up and would definitely be worth getting full blood count, iron panel and b12 and D tested. If your folate is low your B12 may well be low, the symptoms you describe are exactly what I had with low folate, and severely low b12.

Your thyroid levels are fine (I have thyroid disease so used to having to check them). Very impressed you can see results on NHS Wales though, our surgery can’t even get past the login screen.

Dollcam3 · 01/09/2025 19:29

Thank you both foe the replies. I went to the gp today to discuss my results and i am shocked that the doctor says because 2.9 is only borderline low then it wont be whats causing my symptoms. They have refered me to Neurology now. I am baffled as from what i have read on low folate, it pretty much describes most of my symptoms.

Also my b12 is absolutely fine and well within range. Gp said no need to check iron as red blood cells are all good 🤷‍♀️ Xxx

I had a lot of those symptoms a few years ago straight after Covid , took 9 months to go , it clearly did a number on my nervous system and was very frightening g at the time, especially the feeling like someone had trickled icy water down your leg - I had weird buzzing feet and awful pins and needles too . On paper my vit D was lowish ( in the 40s) and my T4 levels were somewhat lower 9.8 - and I was pre diabetic (43) but nothing else showed up and eventually after rectifying the pre diabetes and the vit D it gradually all went away

Thyroid looks ok but low folate will give you all the symptoms you are experiencing.
B12, folate, magnesium and Vit D supplements are a good start. When I hit peri menopause pause I assumed my symptoms were due to low hormones but after taking HRT for months it had little effect. I now take the above combination for 6 months over the year ( mainly winter) and it tops me up, reducing all the neurological symptoms and fatigue.

I take Anastrazole so joint aches are normal, however daily antihistamines help with inflammation and diuretic reduces the fluid accumulation within the joint capsules associated with the drug. I don’t think that the joint thing is a direct result of low hormones, more likely a pharmacological side effect from the drug itself. Maybe it interferes with B12 or magnesium metabolism.

Thank you. I am 41 & have asked the gp if this could be down to peri and she says no because my periods are still regular we can rule that out. Its bloody scary to think low vitamins can make you feel so horrific xxx

What was your B12 level ?
The nhs range is set far too low, and what the NHS says is fine almost certainly isnt. if under 300 you'll benefit from supplements, particularly if symptomatic.

Ok your level isn't awful but your low folate will effect your b12 level, maybe why it's dropping. You need to get your folate up to around 2/3rds of the range - b12 and Folate (b9) work together x
