Plantar Fasciitis Hell again

Posted before and still going through hell. Need opinions, excuse the foot pic! Does this look like PF? Both feet are like this, burning hot to touch and bright red, agony to walk now. Doctor has said to get a blood test but can't get one til October, can't take anti inflammatory because I'm doing shockwave. Feel like I'm going round in circles 🥺

When I had PF it didn’t change the colour of my feet. And the pain would wear off as I walked.

Newname42 · 01/09/2025 07:52

Never had colour change with PF (and I struggle for years) and it also was never hot to touch or a burning g sensation. Common signs are that it starts hurting after you finished exercise (or even walking) and it can be at its worst after a period of rest. Getting up in the night to use the loo was poor agony for me, I had to crawl on occasions. It’s painful when applying pressure and might get better after gentle movements. Did you ever see a doctor for it to get a diagnosis?

Homeandfireworks · 01/09/2025 07:55

The colour or temperature of mine never changed. Although painful it was never hot or red. That looks like a reaction to the contact with your shoes allergic reaction, cellulitis or something like this

No I didn’t have any sort of colour change with my PF. No visible signs at all in fact. Hope you get it sorted… I don’t think you can wait til October!!!

BenWhishawsBottom · 01/09/2025 08:04

You say you’re doing shockwave. Are you having shockwave therapy for PF?
Could it be related to that? Where are you having that done? Can you ask them rather than your GP?

SMLSML · 01/09/2025 08:04

Thanks all. Seen a doctor and they've just told me to elevate my leg and there's not a lot more they can do 😢 so frustrating. It did start off with heel pain so think that's where the confusion came from. Seeing the doctor again as can't carry on like this

Another one with PF here, never had colour change or heat. I would be worried about an infection - has the doctor seen the picture?

BenWhishawsBottom · 01/09/2025 08:07

@SMLSML we cross posted - see q above ref shockwave therapy

WalterMittysPuppet · 01/09/2025 08:13

I had it continuously for 5 years, finally had surgery in early 2020. It is now 90% better but can still flare occasionally - I had scar tissue in there for a long time which seems to have broken down now, I still get general pain around that foot.

Never had heat or colour change though, that's unusual. Could you bear a cortisol injection in it? I had 2 - most painful experience of my life but they did give short term relief until I had the tendon snip surgery privately. My GP arranged for them through their pain clinic.

Shockwave therapy on my feet, six sessions in as thought it was PF. Never been officially diagnosed though. I've had Raynaud's before so leaning towards this eryth thing :/ would make sense as I've struggled with swollen feet a lot too

PersephoneParlormaid · 01/09/2025 09:41

I only needed one shock wave treatment to get rid of mine, it was amazing.
Funnily enough I thought Raynauds when I saw the colour change, but didn’t know you can get it in your feet.

justasking111 · 01/09/2025 11:40

GP for sure

Same here. Mine doesn't look like that.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 01/09/2025 12:00

How frequently are you having the sessions? Are you confident the therapist knows what they are doing? I've never had a colour change for PF or shockwave.

The redness is all on the parts of the foot that are in contact with the floor. Are the tops of your feet/toes red and swollen too? Have you got new shoes or slippers or orthotics? It could be something as simple as allergic reaction.
