I'm due to have this done soon. I could go privately but am probably able to have on nhs with a different surgeon. Both surgeons have been recommended by gp. I can't decide which route to follow and would love to hear about anyones experiences (positive or negative!) with this operation. i look forward to hearing from you! Thanks

If you can easily afford private then go private. This is merely my idealogical view. Save the nhs cash for others more needy.
i would struggle to afford atm but may go private as technically we can shoulder the cost...
semantics I know though....

Might be worth thinking about where you will have the operation done in either case, and what facilities are available in either, eg in a worst case scenario does the hospital have hdu/icu level care, or would a disaster mean an ambulance trip to the nearest nhs hospital.
I think if I could afford it, and I was happy with the standard of care I would get privatly then I would go for private care. Not for any ideological reason, just that I think usually the "hotel" aspects are much much better if you go private (as it should be!)

Thanks for your replies! My hospital choice if Royal Surrey in Guildford (Mr Kissin) or Clare Park in Farnham (Mr Vesely) Any one any experience of these hospitals/surgeons?

I had one 2 years ago & incredibly, it was approved by our health insurance (no NHS in Switzerland & our h. insurance is v. mean). I never, ever regretted it. Not for a moment. It was the best thing! Having been a 34B at 30 & then a droopy 40DD 12 yrs & 2 dcs later, I was miserable. It sounds corny but having the reduction really did change my life. Go for it!

I would think of DD cup as little dimples after the great mahoosers I'm currently endowed with..
Glad to hear good tales of surgery.

ohdearohdear · 30/05/2008 22:41

yes, DD cup seems just ideal to me - rather than the g/gg i have atm!!
