Hello, previously a long term lurker but I think I have been bitten by the MN posting bug.

Am going on a two week holiday to Thailand and really don't want to have my period when I am out there.

Not on an contraception (due to complications/health issues) and am wondering if there is a pill/injection or anything I could take so I don't have my period when I am out there.

Thanks for your infinate wisdom!

Like all methods,Pinkchampagne, there will always be those people they dont agree with. But nothing ventured, nothing gained.Just dont try new things before something special is coming up,give yourself time to get used to a new method. With the Depo injection it is generally persevered with for a year to see whether things settle down.Sounds like you have given nearly a year Pc,I'd go and discuss other options if I was you.

I went for a pill check today, and was told irregular bleeding was a common side effect on this pill, but also other mini pills. Other than the nuisence bleeding, it suits me in every other way, so I am going to give it a bit longer, and if it doesn't improve, I am going to look into trying something else.

I am wary of the depo, as it is in you for 3 months (I think?), and I worry about not getting on with it. If you don't get on with a pill, you can just stop taking it, but that isn't the case with an injection.

Too true pc,lots of people report hellish PMT with the first injection,as its 12 weeks supply of hormones in one go,but this does settle down fairly quickly it seems.I stress 12 weeks only because the amount of people that get their dates mixed up,believing they can wait 3 mths between each one,but 12 weeks is very different.I'm not trying to recommend it to you,but it does definitely stop periods, and some people prefer not having to think about taking daily pills.Mind you, when you stop taking the pill, they do say to wait at least 3 mths before trying for a baby etc. as the residual effects could upset you cycle for a while. But I know what you are saying.

Hmmm, all makes me a bit nervous, NJ. I do worry about the whole 12 week thing!

I can't take much more of this continual bleeding though, so might have to go back to the doctors & think about trying something else. It is really bringing my mood right down too, which isn't good.

Yes go back pc,Cerazette is part of a large "family" of pills, you just need to find one that suits you.I went on a Progesterone only pill a few years back,I did have 2 periods in one month but then it settled and I didnt have any side effects. One will suit you I'm sure.I had a Caesarian with my last child, and got sterilised at the same time, best thing I did.But still have to put up with very heavy periods and pain! Us women have alot to go through to get our Dc's(worth it tho I guess)
