Just got back from a disastrous trip away where I fainted in the middle of the night resulting in bashing my face up pretty badly and my poor dd having to call the paramedics (she’s 20yo.)

Turned out I had an infection but I didn’t know that until after I fainted.

Ive fainted a few times in the past, always at night or when I’m unwell.

Im single and feeling a bit anxious about this happening again when I could be on my own. Drs have done bloods and an ecg and other than high infection markers they’re okay.

Anyone else have this?

Yes me !! I have fainted twice on EasyJet planes in the morning . Embarrassing.
And many other times too .
Mine seems to be a combination of heat and low blood pressure .
I come around immediately and am fine afterwards . I faint at least once a year .
Twice this year so far though 😂😂!

I used to faint a lot on London transport (trains and tubes) in the mornings. I would always have had a decent breakfast so knew that wasn’t the issue.

i then made a point of drinking a pint of water before leaving the house in the mornings and that seemed to do the trick! Not had an issue for years now. I think it was a combination of overheating and dehydration.

hope you’re ok and able to get to the bottom of what works for you.

Thanks, did either of you ever hurt yourself when you fainted? I’ve fainted before but this is the first time I’ve hurt myself, I was lucky I didnt break my nose or knock my teeth out 😱

I’ve got (permanent) scars on my arm from a dead faint in my bathroom - my arm caught the sharp corner of a unit when I was going down. I’ve also had black eyes, bust lips, bruised legs …

The arm scars look spookily like bite marks for some reason!

(We’ve toddler-proofed it now ...)

No, luckily when I have fainted in the past I could feel it coming on in the form of hearing going fuzzy, getting really hot and clammy then finally feeling dizzy so would know it was going to happen and would make sure I got myself in a seated position. Even if that was sitting on the floor of a train!

I used to faint more often. Have learnt to control it as best I can. I know the feeling developing, hot, fuzzy head. I was having some medical treatment and felt faint and the nurse told me that I was holding my breath, so if I feel it coming on, I sit down and focus on slow deep breath

@TheAutumnCrowi think that’s what I might have to do 🙈😂 my dd wants to put a stairgate at the top of the stairs!!

I do know the warning signs but this time by the time I thought ‘I feel faint’ I’d keeled over.

It’s very disconcerting.
