Considering this option for private bloods. Not sure how good they are though. I may just book a clinic appointment if they're hit and miss. Has anyone used them and are they actually any good?

Yes I did one and it was fine.

The finger prick kits? I’ve tried several times and have never been able to get enough blood into the tube. I just get a nurse to do it if I want private bloods, much less hassle and guaranteed to work.

@yonem sorry, I meant the things you stick on your arm. They look quite weird! Yeah, I wouldn't bother with a finger one.

I'd like to know more about how/if these work too.

Yes , I was surprised at how easy it was. I have done a LOT of home finger prick tests because I was on the ONS COVID monitoring group 2020-2022 and was very confused when I received this contraption. But it does work and is easier and less painful than the finger prick. The one thing I didn't realise straight away was that if you need to swap vials you need to prime it again and presumably re establish a vacuum by pumping it (press the button)

I had a HepC blood test via the nhs when the contaminated blood scandel was in the news last year. I filled a tube by using a finger prick test on my outer forearm. So not really relevant but I was surprised how much blood i got. I just keeping firmly stroking my arm downwards.

I never do and finger prick test on my hands
