Root treatment on front tooth

Anyone had this done.

I am getting it done on Monday and so stressed about it. I had a root treatment about 15 years who on another tooth and when the tooth was being drilled open I literally jumped up it was so painful although the rest of after that was ok it was just the initial opening of the tooth that was unbearable.

Just dreading that happening again.

I had root canal work just over a week ago, but not on a front tooth. I had enough anaesthesia that it wasn't painful at all; I couldn't feel it in fact. It was a little sore once the numbness wore off, but nothing I couldn't cope with. Just tell the dentist if you feel any pain ( mine always says to raise my hand, and I always tell her she'll know before I do that) and he/she will sort you out. Don't tense up if you can help it and you'll be ok.

Front teeth are the easiest ones to root treat as they have fewer roots/canals. If you’re not sufficiently numb, tell the dentist and they can top up the anaesthetic.

I had this done recently, front bottom tooth. Didn’t feel a thing!

Yeah the dentist said that the front tooth is the easiest one as there is only one canal rather than other teeth as they usually have 3 or 4 canals. It’s really just the drilling opening of the tooth that I am worried about as that’s where I had the pain last time I had a root canal.

I didn’t feel a thing but it did go brown so I hope you are having a crown too.

Not necessary to remove perfectly healthy tooth to crown it after a root canal provided the integrity of the tooth structure is not compromised by the decay removal. Internal bleaching stops them going brown with no need to destroy perfectly healthy tooth during the crown prep.

My DS had a root canal done on a front tooth when he was about 11 or 12. His tooth got broken in an accident when he was 8, but as the root hadn't fully formed we had to wait to get a root canal. He didn't feel a thing!

Ah right you sound much more knowledgeable!

Mine was a bit of a nightmare. I did try to bleach to but it was too tricky

I shouldn’t have worried as it was painless. Took about an hour.
