Pelvic and back discomfort and long period after Covid.

I caught Covid for the 4th time (that I am aware of) in mid July. Felt rough for a week, aching and heavy cold etc.

Shortly after this, I noticed I had discomfort very similar to period pain. My period the arrived 10 days early and has not stopped for the last 10 days. Not particularly heavy and I take sequential HRT so it’s a withdrawal bleed. Normally only bleed for 3 or 4 days.
But this constant ache in my pelvic area is getting me down…anyone else had similar? And still feel very tired and have aching legs.

I have read that Covid can mess with your cycles…..

thanks

Are you symptoms just on your period or elsewhere during the month? Also what are all of your symptoms? Is the pain worse on or off your period?

If your pain is severe it might be an underlying condition. It could be fibroids or ovarian cysts.

I recommend going to your GP ask for a
pelvic ultrasound, a transabdominal
ultrasound and a transvaginal one to see what they find.

Also ask your GP for mefenamic acid and/or naproxen (NSAIDs which help a lot) and tranexamic acid (helps reduce heavy bleeding) - you need to start taking it days before your period starts so that it can work at best capacity. The same with ibuprofen and/or paracetamol. Start taking it 3/4 days before and it will be much better. You could also try the mirena coil which will make the uterus lining thinner = less bleeding and less cramps.

Thank you for your advice. This discomfort is since I’ve had Covid and then my period started 10 days early and has lasted 10 days which is really unusual. I normally get a bit crampy for the first day or so. It isn’t very painful, just there!

I will get it checked out if it carries on, but seems odd that this only happened after I was unwell.

I wouldn’t blame Covid and get checked over by GP.

Oh right it seems more linked to Covid then anything else, I just wanted to know if it's something that has been happening in general or that was just triggered my covid. I'd just try and use any painkillers you have and rest then, it should settle as you get better.

I think you know your body best, covid can cause many symptoms, often not mentioned online or otherwise, it could be a new occurance or due to covid. If your worried or unusual for you mention to your gp so on record and monitor your symptoms, that would be my advice, obs do what best for you.
