Blood results -folate and Iron related

I have been having palpitations, light headed when standing and absolutely exhausted for a few months. These were my blood test results. I have now been prescribed Folic acid for 3 months. Has anyone else had similar results? If so what are the likely causes? I have an in-person GP appointment later this week.

I had very low folate and very low iron (ferritin was fine, saturation was very low) and felt like shit. I've been on supplements for about six months now and after four months felt totally different. I'm literally awake for an extra three hours a day. Took a while to take effect but feel good now and I remember what it's like to have energy!

Hi Op

Your results suggest folic acid is a good call for now. Your ferritin and transferrin saturation are high, so iron supplementation is not recommended. Avoid multivitamins with added iron.

Consider discussing liver function, inflammatory markers (like CRP), or genetic testing for haemochromatosis with your GP if you have fatigue, joint pain, or other symptoms.

Active B-Complex (only if symptoms like low energy or brain fog (one without iron)

Thyroxine is at the upper end of reference range (and lower TSH) - any previous thyroid function tests to compare with? Overactive thyroid a possible thought? I’m just dealing with the opposite issue . . .

@Andformynexttrick I have had a partial thyroidectomy and on 100mcg of thyroxine. That's a good point - I will check what previous tests were. Because they were in normal range I didn't look much further - thank you!
