Worried about liver health

Hi, I have terrible anxiety over a potential liver or gallbladder issue.

I have a transitory discomfort in my upper right abdomen which gets worse when I think about it…

I was sent to A&E by my GP for a potential appendicitis and had a full CT scan of my abdomen. The radiologist report said: all soft organs normal. Hospital bloods were also fine. Would a radiologist have to highlight any abnormalities they saw or just look only at the appendix?

I had a liver function test by the GP a fortnight ago which showed my ALT was 38 (normal range up to 40) which has freaked me out. My CRP was also 28. I was starting with a respiratory virus/infection. Could this have elevated the ALT?

I am going to pay for a private ultrasound to hopefully dispel any anxiety and allow me to enjoy my summer.

drinking history: drunk once or twice a week about 8 units on average per sitting. Liver function in 2024 was ALT 11 (again normal range up to 40).

thanks

They will report incidental findings. If you had an infection or took painkillers that can skew blood results although yours sound within “normal” range

So they’d have to say if they saw fatty liver or scarring?

Yes, assuming any were detectable.

your blood tests are normal and your scan was normal. Maybe have a think about what would help with your anxiety

The liver can repair itself but only if you don’t keep pushing it.
Have a soft drink each second drink and you’ll halve your drinking and be under instead of over the recommended limits.
