What is this sore on my Mum's face?

My mum has two sores on her face she has had them for around a year. They heal and scab over but then she catches them with a towel and they bleed, they both look like they have a little pus in them.

I would be contacting the doctor if they keep bleeding

Let the GP have a look.
Might be BCC, in which case they are likely to prescribe some cream, it's nothing to worry about.

Cream won’t work on BCC’s - definitely see GP as look like skin cancers.

Quite likely BCCs or less likely SCCs, I had two BCCs on my leg, she need to go to the doctors to have them looked at and they will probably refer her to have them removed. I had cream for one of mine as it was very flat, just like dry skin really, but it doesn't work on more lumpy ones.

Creams are frequently prescribed for elderly people with BCCs.

BCC don't all look the same, my two looked completely different to each other, one was lumpy more like the one on your mums side of nose and the other was dead flat like dry skin patch
Don't worry though but she does need to see the GP as these things can get bigger

I’d put money on them being BCCs. It’s a type of skin cancer but very slow growing and usually very treatable (sometimes with cream eg fluorouracil and sometimes having it removed).

They are but don’t seem to get rid of them

There is no need to get rid of them in elderly people, which is why some prescription ointments / creams are a totally appropriate treatment for some BCC.
