Broken wrist on holiday.

I’m really just looking for some advice as I don’t want to come over as completely neurotic and have already expressed concern regarding the lack of security around the villa swimming pool and the 4 year old!

Ds and dil are abroad visiting relatives and will be flying home (10 hour flight) this weekend. Last week dil fell and broke her wrist and has a plaster cast on her lower arm. Is it safe to fly with the cast? Does she need a doctor’s letter? I don’t want to say anything to them if nothing is required but equally, I don’t want them to have problems at the airport. I am not well travelled myself.

Any advice very welcome.

I broke my wrist while in Myanmar a few years ago. The doctor wrote a letter for my insurance and the health staff back home explaining the fracture and treatment, but I didn't have to show it for travel and nobody batted an eyelid at my cast.

They might split the cast for flying if it is not flexible. Chances are she will have another appointment before she leaves.

Thank you. I’ve messaged her to suggest it but she doesn’t think it’s a problem. Hopefully she’s right.

I think you should leave it to your grown-up ds and dil to sort out.
