Can you take SSRI's when you have bradycardia?

Obviously I will discuss this with my GP/psychiatrist but just curious if anyone has experience with this?

I have been prescribed low dose SSRI's for anxiety in the past but didn't want to take them, as I hoped other therapies would work but so far I havent been able to solve my issues through therapy alone. So now I am seriously considering trying SSRI's but from what I understand they lower your heart rate.
My resting heart is 50-55, and drops to 40s during sleep (I know this from a smartwatch I used to wear but also had a 24h monitor a few years ago which showed the same)

Anyone else in this hr zone and has experiences taking an SSRI?

Any insights much appreciated!

I don’t have a low heart rate like you but I’m on the max dose of an SSRI and it hasn’t impacted my heart rate at all.
I know some can cause heart issues so always best to speak to your GP or a pharmacist.

Thank you for sharing! Yes I will definitely talk to my doctor first. Ironically I would take SSRI's to treat health anxiety and GAD. I am dreading how side effects would impact my HA which is why I would like to be well informed before starting.

My husband has sinus bradycardia and has been on citalopram for 6 years for anxiety. The cardiologist he saw didn't seem to think it was a problem.

That's good to hear. Do you know if it affected his bradycardia at all?

I must say the older he has gotten the more symptoms he has experienced due to the bradycardia but I'm unsure if that would be caused by the ssri's or not. He would experience lightheadedness, chest discomfort or mild pain.

I think that the heart rate naturally goes down a little with age so I am curious to know where mine will end up. I have no symptoms except maybe low bp with standing up too fast. My hr also adjusts well to exercise. Thanks for sharing your (husband's) experience.
