4.5 month old dd has 'clicky' bones. Anyone encountered this?

I've only noticed it in the last month or so. It's her wrists mostly and occasionally shoulders. Have done some web research and have found a few other people who have been told that as long as it's not her hips it's not a problem.

She had all her usual checks when discharged and at 8 weeks and all was fine. It doesn't seem to bother her at all but it worries me. I know I should probably ask GP about it but don't want to come over all PFB...

Please go to your GP.
I know my friend (who was born in the 70's) had an undiagnosed clicky hip, she was bit by a dog at 13 and it somehow made things worse. She is now in her 30's and has had to have a hip replacement ... twice, and is unable to walk with out a stick. So pfb or not, I would go to the doctors.

Oh goodness... Thanks Connie. Will go to GP and hope it's nothing serious.

I hope it is nothing serious too, actually I am sorry to have been so alarmist.

both my dd's had clicky bits as small babies, they are both fine - though more than averagely flexible in their joints

clicky joints are completely normal, even hips!

Unfortunately the term "clicky" was used to describe hips that are either dislocated or dislocatable, and this lead to thousands of people being unnecessarily treated for a condition they don't have!

By all means, as your GP to have a feel of the hips. If he/ she is not sure then a referral will be made for an ultrasound scan, which will probably reassure you that nothing is wrong.

Thanks everyone. Don't worry Connie, you just made me realise that I should always take her to the doc. I'm not good at going to docs myself and so I have to break that habit where dd is concerned!
