Hello

I have been referred for 2 separate 2ww referrals in a week. I have investigations booked for next week and the week after. One for urology and one for lower GI. I getting pretty nervous about this and wondered if anyone else has been in the same position.

Oh love, what a worry Flowers
I've never been referred twice in the same week, but following a bunch of 2WW referrals to various different specialities in the last decade (I'm not a hypochondriac I promise!) I've never been diagnosed with anything sinister/life threatening.
GP has always told me these things are far more likely to rule the nasties out rather than in. Hope all goes well for you.

Thank you. One of them I have been referred for in the past, for pretty much the same symptoms but the criteria is that I have to be referred. It turned out to be nothing to worry about, but I'm not being complacent this time as I know things can change. I haven't been referred for the lower GI in the past and I'm really not looking forward to the colonoscopy at all.

I have had a run of 2ww referrals in the past. It's reassuring because there are strict protocols. If x,y and z then a GP must refer, they cannot just diagnose themselves.
In my case I had a 2ww for lungs and the day after I got the all clear I found a breast lump. It was breast cancer.
Since then I've had referrals for gastric and bowel issues, neither of which I thought serious but it was protocol. Both were fine.
Good luck

Thank you, I'm trying to just carry on as normal at the moment.

Sorry to hear about your breast cancer diagnosis. Hope you are on the mend now.

I've had plenty, illnesses have been identified but never cancer thankfully. I don't know the stats but the number of 2WW referrals that turn out to be cancer really is v small, it's a precautionary action and I am grateful they do it.
I have stopped worrying (too much) when I get one now!
All the best yours turn out fine too.

Thank you @Chewbecca

I worked in a GP surgery doing these referrals all the time and reassured many a patient that the vast majority turn out absolutely fine, but having 2 running at the same time has worried me. I'm just plodding along at the moment waiting for the investigations which are happening in the next 2 weeks.
