Petechiae on 7 year old.

I was showering my 7 year DS this evening and noticed that he has a few small patches of petechiae on his body. One patch on his back, one on his inner top arm and two at the top of his chest. They are very faint and not very noticeable, but all around the same area (upper body). We have spent the day at a friends house, where he’s been running around having water fights and playing on their nest swing (he was laying down on it) . I’m inclined to think that, the rashes are in response to abrasion from the swing or rough play because at one point four children all clambered onto the swing, however everything I’ve read online says to get petechiae checked out by a GP. Does anyone else have a child that gets this sort of rash, is it worth getting it checked ? He is absolutely fine in himself!

Yeah I'd say they are probably from wet clothes and rough play. I'd keep an eye on if any more appear but otherwise I wouldn't be concerned.

Why do I keep seeing posts about this recently? I’ve never heard of petechiae before all the posts I keep seeing this past week. Is it the same person posting under different names?

No, I haven’t posted about this before!

Pale and sensitive skin is prone to easily marking with petechiae. My son started getting it from he was a baby and I used to really worry at the start, once did bring him to a&e and he was checked out, blood test etc and everything was fine. If he cries too hard he gets petechiae under his eyes, if his school bag is a bit heavy he gets it round his armpit and so on so forth. I just always keep an eye on it and make sure it's not spreading and NEVER accompanied by other symptoms of illness such as fever, cold symptoms, headache etc.

Thank you, he has it before around his mouth from the suction of a cup so I think he is more prone to it. But it’s always nice to have reassurance that it’s not always because of something scary!
