Warts on fingers: give me all the advice you’ve got!!!!

Noddle2015 · 29/06/2025 17:40

Desperate for some advice. I have had the odd wart on my finger since a child. Lately they’ve gotten terrible and GP refuses to do anything about it. I have tried the home feezing, bazzoka gel, filing it off. Everytime I try something they multiply. I cry nearly everyday just hoping I will find something to get rid of them, I have at least 12 on one hand grouping with one another and I feel like I am at my whits end. Please someone tell me the thing they have done that’s worked and got rid of them once and for all 😭

Could you afford to get treated privately? I would go to a private skin clinic and see if they can help you.

HungryForSnacks · 29/06/2025 17:44

Have you tried vinegar? Hurts a bit but works for me!

Noddle2015 · 29/06/2025 17:45

Hi @ShoeeMcfee i have looked into it but not a great deal I sort of went against the idea when they were quoting quite a big price for a singular wart. However, I think you may be right.

@HungryForSnacks I have not is there a trick to it? And it is apple cider vinegar etc?

Depending where they are I wrapped electricians tape around them so they 'sweated'. Seemed to help me.

notanothersummercold · 29/06/2025 17:52

Random but when my mum had a verruca the doc told her to rub the inside of a banana skin on it every day and it did clear up. Worth a try!

HungryForSnacks · 29/06/2025 17:53

Yep. Apple cider vinegar soaked in a little bit cotton wool/make up remover pad. Cover with a plaster and leave overnight. Do that for a few days and see how you go.

sorry you have so many to tackle. Must be so uncomfortable x

IAmNotALoon · 29/06/2025 17:56

You could try l-lysine tablets. One of my kids has had a wart on her hands for years now (refused to do anything about it) . My son and I both got a wart on our hands. We got rid of ours by taking l- lysine tablets. Or at least the warts disappeared once we started taking them. Now DD wants me to find something to get rid of her wart now she is self-conscious about it, but she won't swallow tablets so I have to find something else. Too young for a clinic, I think.

NorthernDancer · 29/06/2025 17:58

Dandelion sap might do the trick, or find someone who can charm them away!

ChateauMargaux · 29/06/2025 17:59

Kombucha scoby taped on at night.. and homeopathy..

NigellaAwesome · 29/06/2025 18:26

I’ve always sliced them off with a v sharp scalpel and cauterised the bleeding with hydrogen peroxide. Always works but I recognise it’s not for everyone.

my podiatrist recommends in a small bottle add 1cm of salt and 2cm vinegar. Allow to dissolve. Scratch open the surface gently with a needle, apply with a cotton bud and cover with hypofix tape. Repeat every couple of days.

puttyputmeout · 29/06/2025 18:28

I had such stubborn warts including one on my palm which was impossible to shift, I went private to a podiatrist who used some kind of radiotherapy, it blasted it in about 2 sessions if I remember right. I had to wear a bandage on my palm for a short time as it healed but it completely got rid of them and I just have a small scar on my palm now (it was a big wart)

puttyputmeout · 29/06/2025 18:30

Remembered now I think it was one session for the small one and a second for the big one so it depends how big they are

Zippedydodah · 29/06/2025 18:32

My mother would rub them with a piece of steak and bury it in the garden by moonlight- I don’t think she was a witch but she believed in every folk remedy going. Not sure if any ever worked!
I used Bazooka on mine, it eventually went after about 10 days of daily treatment. My GP said it’s a virus and it will eventually burn itself out but that’s little consolation I know.

wonderstuff · 29/06/2025 18:34

Bazooka worked on my son’s sounds really miserable, hope you find something that works.

@ChateauMargaux can you explain this a bit further please? Where could I find this?

I may give this a try. I was given a penny to buy my wart and kept rubbing daily but sadly no luck. I thought the bazooka was working but at some point point during treatment they began multiplying. I can’t for the life of me understand why.

@puttyputmeout i think I might have to go down this direction. I am a bit worried that with having so many it might be very costly but I am willing to try anything at this point.

  • You can treat warts at home by applying salicylic acid, available without a prescription.
  • Concentrations range from 17% to 40% (stronger concentrations should be used only for warts on thicker skin).
  • Before applying the salicylic acid, be sure to soak the wart in warm water.
  • File away the dead warty skin with an emery board or pumice stone, and apply the salicylic acid.
  • Repeat the process daily or even twice a day.
  • Salicylic acid is rarely painful. If the wart or the skin around the wart starts to feel sore, you should stop treatment for a short time.
  • It can take many weeks of treatment to have good results, even when you do not stop treatment.
  • Continuing treatment for a week or two after the wart goes away may help prevent recurrence.

@NorthernDancer i have been having a little look into this, do i extract it straight from the plant or a supplement?

@NoelFaraday Hi Noel, thank you I have tried this method and struggled to not get my skin with the acid, this ended up making the surrounding skin raw and I think this is how more warts have appeared from the treatment. I managed around 2 weeks and at the end of treatment they appeared again with about 5 more growing.

Pure tea tree oil slightly diluted with another essential oil. My DD had them all over her fingers. We tried everything including bazuka. Tea tree oil got rid of them within about a week. I tried a Bupa dermatologist who I was seeing about something else and she said there wasn’t really anything they could do that would work.

aredcar · 29/06/2025 20:26

I bought h warts solution from a link I saw on Facebook for my daughter. I think it’s pretty much tea tree from the smell which you could get a lot cheaper. Her warts were multiplying and she had about 4/5 on each nail bed and some on her palms and knuckles and was so self conscious. This stuff got rid of all of them in a few weeks. However, it hasn’t worked for my son. The only thing I wonder is- my daughter caught one of her warts and it wouldn’t stop bleeding- I wonder if this triggered the immune system to start fighting them.

my son has terrible verrucas including a horrible massive cluster on the ball of his foot- I’m trying bazooka but no luck so far
