My dd (now aged 10) had something similar when she was 7. We ended up going to gp who referred us to a skin specialist and they gave it some fancy name which escapes me. We were then told that with hers it was quite deep underneath the skin and if we had it removed it would cause a scar so we decided to leave it. Here we are 3 years later and she still has it but it doesn't bother her in the least.

What does it look like?? My dd's is almost ilke a whitehead (only paler) and whilst I always notice it, no-one else seems to!

In any event, I would see your gp just to be on the safe side. Chances are that it's nothing at all to worry about, particularly at her age.

Thanks for the reply Amandella.
Its about the size of a pin head, and like you said almost like a whitehead.

I have to keep telling myself to keep calm.We lost a close friend to cancer afew weeks ago.So that is on my mind, even though i know it isn't likely to be cancer. So i'm glad you have posted about your dd.I'll make an appointmaent to see GP.

Hi again mommy6 - it really does sound similar to my dd's "spot". I have to also say that there are days that it looks bigger than others and then it fades a bit and then comes back again. It still does it. In fact I was looking today and I thought it looked bigger because a couple of days ago it had virtually disappeared.
Anyway, as I say, we've had it looked at by 2 x private consultants as, like you always do, it's hard not to worry. However, both of them said exactly the same thing, that it was totally benign, quite common and just a bit annoying (even though there's no itching/pain or anything). My dd has grown very used to it - it's on her cheek and quite visible to us at least. She calls it her "beauty spot" - even though it's definitely more like a small whitehead.
Try not to worry. I feel sure it's a very similar thing to my own dd's. Do let me know how things go. Best wishes.
