Repeated oral thrush from Luforbec inhaler

It's getting silly now how much this is happening. I'm up yet again as it makes my throat swollen and blocked when I lie down. Back on the antifungal meds tomorrow.

I rinse my mouth well with corsodyl after I use it, use my spacer correctly and don't know what I could do differently.

Currently waiting for cold drink and ibuprofen to reduce the swelling so I can at least sleep sitting up. Would welcome any help or suggestions.

Have you asked to change inhaler?

I had an inhaler many years ago that gave me thrush, though I didn't use a spacer with it. It was grim though.

You've probably tried this, but eating kefir and live yoghurt? Might ease it a bit?

Happened to me too. I went back on Fostair and no problems.

How often are you cleaning your inhaler and spacer?

Are you swooshing or gargling? I was getting blood blisters on my soft palate, which is an apparently benign side-effect of inhaled steroids. Benign, but very painful! Yet I was religiously rising after each use. But when I rinsed my mouth the back of my tongue was pressed up against my soft palate while I swooshed the water around, and that's exactly where the blood blisters were appearing. So I switched to tipping my head back and gargling with a relaxed tongue, and the blood blisters stopped happening.

Could it be something like that? I imagine that once thrush develops anywhere in your mouth, it quickly spreads around your mouth.

Can you change your inhaler? I find that metered dose Symbicort gives me different, harder to manage side effects than powdered Symbicort, for example.

I gargle, clean everything regularly. Take a probiotic already.

I think you're right in asking for a change of inhaler. I'm only getting maximum 2 weeks between finishing antifungals and another infection. Thanks all.

Thanks for your help on this. I've got antifungal meds and GP is switching me to Forstair. Great shout, and I'll update once I've got it and test driven it for a few days. 😊

I changed to Forstair, but the issue continued. However, I've now found the holy grail! I do my inhaler, then take my medications with either a Yakult or Actimel live culture shot, swishing it around my mouth thoroughly, then don't drink or eat anything for half an hour. It's now cleared up after it being lumpy, sore, coated and cracked.
