Both my dad and my daughter have. Dad's wasn't good news but DD's was nothing sinister and was treated with antibiotics. DD had hers done via a bronchoscopy, she was given a sedative and can remember very little of the procedure.

My mum had this 5 years ago. The nodule was found by chance during investigations as to why she was so anaemic (the nodule was not the cause of her extreme anaemia). She was seen by a lung specialist who decided to operate to remove it. We were told that if he felt it looked cancerous when he operated he would carry out a partial lungectomy. When he did operate he didn’t like the look of it so the partial lungectomy was carried out and the nodule sent to the lab for confirmation it was cancerous. My mum was 78 at the time.

She came home from hospital after about a week and we saw the consultant again a few weeks later when he confirmed it was a slow growing cancerous nodule which luckily had not spread anywhere. She required yearly scans after this and about a month ago her consultant asked to see her again where he told her he was happy to discharge her as her scans had been clear for the last 5 years. Bearing in mind her age she recovered quickly from the lungectomy and you would never know she had lost part of her lung.

I hope the outcome is the same for you Op.

DM had one last year. It was inconclusive.
However, she had complications which started with a small pneumothorax and ended up with infected pleural effusion which put her in hospital for three weeks (where she also caught flu). She's still coughing 8 months later but is back to usual fitness.
And she still has two lung nodules which we don't know what they are.
