Lump in chest but is it a bone?

I've had sore perimenopausal breasts lately. So I've checked myself and I think I can feel a lump above my left breast below my collarbone. I can't see a lump in the mirror but I feel like there is something there.
Im going to the doctor next Monday but I'm worried.
Stupid question but is there a bone or something there? I've never checked before so I don't know what my normal is.
Or could it be an inflamed muscle or something.

Hi op, I'm also perimenopausal and have lumps and bumps. A couple of years ago I found a lump that I got checked out, got a referral to the hospital within two weeks. By the time I got there the lump had disappeared. However the consultant was concerned over an area above my breast that I'd always assumed was a prominent bone. He drew a big circle round it with his biro and I had the area scanned (and a mammogram).

Anyway turns out I was right and it was just a bone but understandably somebody who doesn't know my breasts may think it was a hard lump.

I think if it's new for you then get it checked out, if it's always been there less likely to be anything to worry about.

Thanks @Tanfastic I feel a bit stupid that I don't know if it's normal for me!
I'll definitely get it checked out but good to know it may be just a bone or something simple
