I’m about the same age as you and I’m just about to start it. What have you gone for?

Sammy834 · 18/06/2025 18:23

@Backtothe90tiesI opted for the progesterone pill and estrogen gel! Just sounded like the option that would suit me best, now about you? Don’t know why I’m so nervous about starting it!

I take estrogel. Three pumps a day. It’s completely stopped the anxiety and hot flushes. Well worth it.

Backtothe90ties · 18/06/2025 18:26

I’ve gone for the patches because my memory is shot to pieces and I don’t need to remember something every day! I’m nervous about it too and I feel a bit on my own because no one I know is experiencing symptoms yet! I’m just waiting for my prescription.

Backtothe90ties · 18/06/2025 18:29

I really hope that mine controls my ridiculous anger. I’ve never experienced anything like it!

DiaryofWimpy · 18/06/2025 18:33

I have the patch and Provera pills. Life savers!!

Anonyone1 · 18/06/2025 18:40

Just posted on another thread - i’m on the evorel patches and they’ve been life changing. Back to my old self within days. I’d tried the combined pill for 6 months and it helped a little but was still getting symptoms - mainly night sweats and low mood/anxiety. I feel reborn, quite honestly. I even got my libido back!

Sammy834 · 18/06/2025 18:41

It’s all quite daunting isn’t it! Thanks for your replies lovelies….

I’m the same @Backtothe90ties none of my friends have started any sort of hrt so feel really alone with it all. But sharing is caring right?! Haha.

Luckily I was already taking an antidepressant so I’ve had no mood changes so far. Ohh gosh anger is such a difficult emotion to manage- I really hope it helps you!

any one else get extra touchy when it’s hot as well? 😂 xx

@Sammy834 definitely let us know how you get on and I’ll keep you posted to. It’s great to hear so many posters saying positive things. Makes me feel better.

And yes the heat has me extra grumpy! Sunglasses and peri were making my face sweat earlier! I was so cross 🤣

Sammy834 · 18/06/2025 19:04

@Backtothe90tiesYes! And you too! We can start this journey together and compare 😆

oh gosh, that’s me!! 🤣 I say FFS at least 1000 times a day!! Xx

Hi. I’m 54 and havnt ever taken or been offered hrt. I started peri menopause aged 47, when my periods went haywire. Heavy unpredictable bleeding was referred to a gynaecologist had a biopsy and was told the coil would help. So I had that and has helped with the bleeding as now no periods for nearly 3 years. I spoke to my gp a couple years back saying I felt tired and joint aches but said to have blood test and iron levels low so just told to take iron tablets and that was likely the cause of my symptoms. I still feel the same. I don’t have the classic symptoms of menopause no hot flushes or moods but aching joints and dry eyes. My coil is giving me the progesterone part but that’s it. Have been wondering if it’s wise to go without hrt or even if I’m just used to my symptoms but taking hrt would be beneficial

Backtothe90ties · 18/06/2025 20:00

@Legofan70 I wasn’t offered it I looked up the NICE guidelines and requested to try it. I have met with a pharmacist at my surgery and discussed it but generally have been given the green light. It might not be right for me but I don’t want to suffer for no reason if there is something I can try. I guess it depends on how much symptoms are bothering an individual.

I guess I’m just used to my symptoms. They do affect me daily, especially the dry eyes and achy joints. Also chin hairs! Possibly taking hrt would make a difference but I do wonder if it’s wise to go without in the long term for bone health for example

Backtothe90ties · 18/06/2025 20:19

@Legofan70 I would say ask about it.
